Abstract
The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of external reservoir boundaries on pressure behavior at the observation well. The equation governing the flow of non-Newtonian fluids through porous media is solved analytically. Dimensionless pressure solutions are obtained in Laplace domain and inverted using a numerical inversion algorithm. New type curves were developed from these solutions and long-time analytic models, including step-by-step procedures of interpretation, are proposed. These procedures were applied to two example problems, including a real field data of PFO test conducted after polymer injection in a Middle Eastern field. The procedures developed in this study are useful in estimating test duration needed to observe a particular flow regime that is required to estimate reservoir and flow parameters.
