Abstract
In the development of oil and gas the pressure in the rocks of reservoir changes constantly and rocks are compressed and deformed. So their permeability reduces. And the production capacity of oil and gas well is affected by the permeability. This paper deals with the deformational characteristics of rocks in low permeable reservoir and their effect on the permeability. The permeability of the rocks in low permeable reservoir is sensitive to effective pressure. The greater permeability, the more sensitive the effect of effective pressure on permeability is. The permeability of rock decreases gradually with the increase of effective pressure and tends to be stable when effective pressure reaches up to a certain amount. And the permeability cannot be recovered after the reduction of overburden pressure and the relationship between the porosity and the permeability is not linear. It can cause rocks to be deformed under different overburden pressure and the change of fissures in low permeable media leads to different permeable characteristics.
