Abstract
⺠We review the potential of CTA for deepening our understanding of AGN. ⺠Significant progress on gamma-ray population studies is expected. ⺠Progress is expected from spectral & timing information derived by CTA observations. ⺠We address questions of jet composition, particle acceleration & radiation mechanisms. ⺠CTA might solve ambiguities between EBL effects & blazar models on observed spectra.
