Abstract
⺠We have observed and modelled the ionospheric response to the eclipse of 1 August 2008. ⺠This eclipse occurred at high-latitude, which leads to specific features. ⺠The large magnetic dip angles favour downward ion diffusion due to plasma cooling. ⺠The totality affects open field lines that undergo escape of H+. ⺠The effects of both the eclipse and cusp precipitation are observed.
