Impact of the total solar eclipse of 29 March 2006 on the surface energy fluxes at Ibadan, Nigeria

► The surface energy fluxes were significantly affected by the eclipse event. ► Latent heat and net radiation lagged the sensible heat. ► Sensible heat and net radiation reverse sign during the eclipse event. ► There was a 95% reduction in the global radiation while net radiation dropped from 354.3 Wm−2 to −11.7 Wm−2.
