Abstract
⺠Charging of NLC aerosols is modeled including photo-charging rates. ⺠Three materials were used: ice, MSP, and a core of MSP covered in ice. ⺠Photodetachment is significant for ice particles with radius greater than 10 nm. ⺠MSP core in ice aerosol increases photo-charging rates. ⺠Positive and negative layers may coexist due to large densities of NLC aerosols.
