Abstract
ZnAl2O4 crystals were grown using few starting compositions with various ZnO:AlO3/2 ratio using an Ir wire seed and Irâ¯+â¯Re crucible under ordinary pressure with Arâ¯+â¯2%O2 atmosphere by the radiofrequency heating µ-PD furnace. The ZnAl2O4 spinel single crystal with 4â¯mm diameter could be successfully grown by the µ-PD method by optimization of starting melt composition considering with Zinc oxide evaporation. During 10â¯min of growth under normal pressure the formation of ZnAl2O4 single phase observed even at high vapor pressure of ZnO. The transmittance spectra and X-ray locking curve were measured for evaluating of grown ZnAl2O4 crystals quality.
