Abstract
We report the effect of Fe on the martensitic transitions in Ni47Mn40-xFexIn13 (xâ¯=â¯1 and 2) alloys and associated magnetocaloric effect. Structural and magnetic transitions are observed in xâ¯=â¯1 and 2 alloys. The martensitic transition shifts to low temperature with the increase of Fe concentration. The maximum positive entropy change (ÎSM) with quite large magnitude of 22â¯Jkgâ1Kâ1 (xâ¯=â¯1) and 51.2â¯Jkg-1K-1 (xâ¯=â¯2) are observed for a field change of 50â¯kOe. Substitution of Fe enhances the magnetization as well as increases the ÎSM more than a twice in the xâ¯=â¯2 system.
