Abstract
In order to study the microwave properties of suspensions including lightweight core-shell ellipsoids, the calculation formula was obtained by substituting an equivalent ellipsoid for the original core-shell ellipsoid. Simulations for Fe-coated diatomite/paraffin suspensions were performed. Results reveal that the calculated results fitted the measured results very well when the inclusion concentration was no more than 15Â vol%, but there was an obvious deviation when the inclusion concentration reached 24Â vol%. By comparisons, the formula for less diluted suspensions was more suitable for calculating the electromagnetic parameter of suspensions especially when the ratio was smaller between the electromagnetic parameter of the inclusion and that of the host medium.
