Abstract
Doped BaFe11.92La(0.08âx)NdxO19 (x=0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08) ferrites with diameters of 50-60 nm have been prepared by the gel-precursor self-propagating combustion process. The characterization of the ferrites was performed by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). XRD and FT-IR spectroscopy indicated that the BaFe11.92La(0.08âx)NdxO19 ferrites were successfully synthesized and the calcination temperature had an obvious effect on the morphology. SEM demonstrated that BaFe12â2x(LaNd)xO19 ferrite were columnar-like. The magnetic parameters indicated that the La3+ and Nd3+ ions content and the calcination temperature could adjust the magnetic properties of BaFe12O19 ferrites. When the calcination temperature was 1000 °C and the rare earth ions content was x=0.04, BaFe11.92(LaNd)0.04O19 ferrite obtained the optimum magnetic properties. The corresponding Hc, Ms and Mr magnetic parameters are 5133.2 Oe, 32.879 emu gâ1 and 53.732 emu gâ1 respectively.
