Controlled synthesis of magnetic Ni-Fe alloy with various morphologies by hydrothermal approach

► Ni-Fe alloy with various morphologies (e.g. flower, snowflake and tree) has been synthesized via a modified hydrothermal approach. ► This present method shows an easy processing, in which morphology of Ni-Fe alloy was easily controlled by adjusting the volume ratio of ethanol to water. ► Ni-Fe alloy prepared in the present method has high magnetic and electrical properties. ► Stepwise growth mechanism for the formation of Ni-Fe alloy with various morphologies was provided.
