Abstract
With the growing worldwide ecologic movements aiming at saving natural resources, new classes of materials have been coming up, such as natural-fiber composites. However, when these polymers are used, new properties are aggregated. This work presents the use of techniques of acoustic emission and digital image correlation in the mechanical characterization of a composite prepared from fully recycled materials where the matrix is thermoplastic polyvinyl chloride recycled fiber reinforced extracted coconut shell. According to the proposed method were obtained from the principal mechanical properties of the new material: Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio.
