Abstract
We report on the performance of a multianode straw tube detector using cosmic rays. It is constructed inside a 5 cm diameter straw tube with twelve anode wires. A calibration technique and track reconstruction algorithm is developed for this type of detector, and we calculate the resolution from the residual distribution and show that ~170 μm resolution is not difficult to achieve. The technique is general and especially useful for detectors with complex electric fields with or without the magnetic field.
