Abstract
The design of the focal plane of the mid-size Schwarzschild-Couder telescope for the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is described. For the camera under development for the prototype telescope, novel Multi-Pixel Photon Counters (MPPCs) from Hamamatsu with Through Silicon Via (TSV) technology are used. The photon-detectors are integrated into an insulated environment that is actively temperature stabilized to avoid gain and photon detection efficiency fluctuations due to temperature variations.
