Abstract
Herein, ferrispinel of the system Ni1âxZnxFeGaO4 with 0.0â¤xâ¥0.5, have been prepared by solid state reaction to investigate the effect of gamma rays irradiations using 60Co source on the structure and photoluminescence properties. The structure and Photoluminescence properties of unirradiated and irradiated samples with radiation dose (114 KGy) were investigated by using X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and spectrofluorophotometer (PL). The correlation between photoluminescence and structural distortion due to an irradiation was discussed. It was found that γ-irradiation induced a remarkable change in both structure and photoluminescence properties appearing as a change in the emission energy values and the observed quantum yield. In most results the sample x=0.3 showed anomalous behavior and was explained on the basis of disordered cluster. The data recommended the use of this ferrispinel material as a radiation-detector; accordingly, XRD and PL are used as dosemetric properties for γâirradiated materials.
