Abstract
The scintillation properties of Ca1âxEuxBr2 (0â¤xâ¤0.08) crystals grown with the vertical Bridgman-Stockbarger technique are reported. The radioluminescence spectra of these crystals show a single peak with a maximum position that shifts from 441 to 448 nm as the concentration of Eu2+ increases in the growth melt. The maximal light yield is 39,000 ph/MeV in Ca0.92Eu0.08Br2 with an energy resolution of 9.1% at 662 keV.
