Abstract
We present the scintillation characteristics of 5% Eu2+-doped BaCl2 single crystals grown by the Bridgman-Stockbarger method. The single crystalline samples show very good scintillation properties compared to the previous reports most likely due to improved purity of the crystals. The light output and the energy resolution values derived from pulse height spectra under γ-ray excitation of a 137Cs source are 52,000 ph/MeV and 3.5%, respectively.
