Abstract
⺠Asymmetric multi-wire proportional chamber, called the Close Cathode Chamber, is studied. ⺠Large size construction feasibility up to 1 m wire length is demonstrated in test beam and cosmic rays. ⺠Reduction of dependence of gas gain on chamber internal pressure is directly demonstrated. ⺠Position resolution and signal formation is shown to be compatible with classical MWPC.
