Abstract
This paper analyzes the flexural behavior of high strength concrete beams reinforced with hybrid glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) and steel reinforcements. To verify the influence of the arrangement of rebar layers and support design of concrete structures with hybrid reinforcement, we have experimentally investigated the flexural strength, load–deflection and crack behaviors of hybrid reinforced concrete beams. Four beams, including one control beam reinforced with only GFRP bars, are tested. The arrangement of reinforcement layers is the main parameters considered. Theoretical models are proposed for the prediction of ultimate capacity and modes of failure.
