Abstract
The electric quadrupole polarization effects of core neutrons/protons excitation in even carbon isotopes are investigated with the microscopic particle-vibration approach. The experimental B(E2,21+→0g.s.+) values are much better reproduced with microscopic polarization effects than with empirical polarization charges. The polarization effects of core neutrons are very different from that of core protons in carbon isotopes. It turns out the polarization effects both of core protons and neutrons are crucial to reproduce the experimental ratios of neutron/proton matrix element Mn/Mp for the transitions in neutron/proton rich carbon isotopes.
