Abstract
The (1+1)-dimensional bosonized Schwinger model has been studied in a noncommutative scenario. The theory in the reduced phase space exhibits a massive boson interacting with a background. The emergence of this background interaction is a novel feature due to noncommutativity. The structure of the theory ensures unitarity and causality.
