Abstract
⺠We examine the effects of atmospheric plasma on the surface properties of jute fibres and its corresponding composites. ⺠Changes in surface roughness and chemistry of the fibres depend strongly on the gas mixture used during plasma. ⺠We examine the corresponding changes in mechanical properties and interfacial properties of the composites. ⺠Low-molecular-weight oxidised species affected the properties of the composites acting either as adhesion promoter or inhibitor. ⺠Surface-property relationships were established.
