Abstract
Photoluminescence (PL) and X-ray-induced luminescence properties of Ce3+-doped barium borate glasses with different cerium concentrations (from 0 to 1.0Â mol%) were investigated. Emission intensities in PL and storage luminescence and quantum yields showed the maximum values at 0.1Â mol% concentration of Ce. In contrast, the emission intensity in X-ray-induced scintillation increased, although an inflection point of the intensity growth curve was observed at 0.1Â mol%. It was therefore confirmed that a Ce concentration of 0.1Â mol% is the most preferable for better PL, scintillation, and storage luminescence properties.
