Abstract
Samples of standard TLD-500 detectors on the basis of anion-defective corundum (α-Al2O3-δ) were found to emit gamma radiation when irradiated with 5.7 MeV protons. The objective of this study was to identify the nature of the induced radioactivity assuming the 18O (p, n)18F reaction as highly probable and to study the prospects for its new practical applications.
