Abstract

For an expanding strip inclusion with general transformation strain, or eigenstrain, starting from rest, the radiated fields are obtained on the basis of the dynamic Green’s function in an expression for expanding inclusions. They are unique, they satisfy the Hadamard jump conditions, and they provide the time-dependent traction needed to be applied at infinity for the problem to be a well-defined elastodynamic problem with initial and (time-dependent) boundary conditions. The “driving forces” on each boundary are obtained accounting for the interaction from the other boundary. In the kinetic relation, the externally applied stress field contributes a Peach–Koehler type term associated with the eigenstrain, but not the boundary velocity.
