Abstract
The research method is based on the complex potential technique of Muskhelishvili using conformal mapping, by taking into account the effect of transverse shear deformation on thermal bending of a cylindrical shell. These stress functions were applied to the analysis of arc cracks around a hole in a Joukowski type shell under heat flow. The results indicated variations in moment-intensity factors at the crack-tip near the hole.
