Abstract
⺠A role of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) in epithelial barrier function is explored. ⺠FAK activity is required in both maintenance and repair of epithelial barrier. ⺠FAK moves away from intercellular border to apical surface upon barrier injury. ⺠FAK co-localizes with tight junction to regulate its assembly/disassembly.
