Abstract
⺠Intracellular [Na+] and [K+] levels are increased in brain regions of Alzheimer's disease patients. ⺠Similar ion increases were observed ex vivo in murine astrocytes treated with amyloid β. ⺠This ion imbalance might contribute to the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease.
