Abstract
⺠Brief, transient expression of RCAN1 proteins promotes oxidative-stress adaptation. ⺠Chronic RCAN1-1L overexpression can promote neurodegeneration and neuronal death. ⺠RCAN1-1L-induced tau hyperphosphorylation may stimulate neurodegeneration. ⺠RCAN1-1L-induced mitochondrial dysfunction may stimulate neurodegeneration. ⺠Animals chronically overexpressing RCAN1-1L may be useful Alzheimer models.
