Abstract
⺠Loss of p53 in stromal fibroblasts upregulates eNOS and increases NO and RNS production. ⺠Elevated NO and RNS in the fibroblasts upregulates ICAM1, promoting epithelial cell invasion. ⺠Knocking down eNOS in the fibroblasts suppresses ICAM1 synthesis and prevents epithelial invasion. ⺠Suppressing NO and RNS with antioxidant blocks ICAM1 synthesis and prevents epithelial invasion. ⺠Modulation of redox signaling in stroma may be a novel strategy to prevent epithelial invasion.
