Abstract
⺠Ulva lactuca yielded extracts with strongest ARE activity among 30 marine algae ⺠Two new compounds, a keto-fatty acid and its amide derivative, were isolated ⺠C18 acid (1) (C18:1(n-11)) activates the Nrf2-ARE pathway in IMR-32 cells ⺠C18 acid (1) requires NRF2 and PI3K for its antioxidant activity in IMR-32 cells ⺠A C18 acid (1)-containing Ulva extract induced ARE-regulated genes in mice.
