Abstract
► DPI and DTI potently block growth and reactive oxygen species production in human colon cancer cells. ► Growth inhibition is associated with a G1 cell cycle block and upregulation of p27. ► Iodonium analogs also downregulate Nox1 mRNA expression in colon cancer cells. ► Plasma concentrations of DPI and DTI in vivo are correlated with growth arrest. ► Both DPI and DTI are active therapeutic agents in colon cancer xenografts.
