Abstract
âºBirth results in increased intrapulmonary O2 tension and lipid peroxidation. ⺠Lipid hydroperoxides trigger postnatal alveologenesis and physiological apoptosis. ⺠Treatment with DPPD, a lipid hydroperoxide scavenger, arrests these processes. ⺠Effects of DPPD are reversed by concurrent treatment with t-butylhydroperoxide.
