Abstract

âº Aging is associated with decreased arterial AMPK expression. âº Short-term pharmacological AMPK activation with AICAR ameliorates age-associated vascular endothelial dysfunction by reducing oxidative stress. âº AMPK activation is a potential therapy for treating arterial aging and reducing cardiovascular disease risk.
