Abstract
⺠Long-term caloric restriction suppresses both absolute and normalized VO2 and heart rate. ⺠Bradycardia and suppression of VO2 are maintained for one year. ⺠Responses are similar at thermoneutral and cool living temperatures. ⺠Heart rate and metabolic rate are rapidly restored to baseline during re-feeding.
