Abstract

This paper presents a hybrid matrix method for simple and stable analysis of electromagnetic wave propagation in multilayered anisotropic materials. By applying the recursive asymptotic method, it requires only elementary matrix operations along with asymptotic thin-layer approximation and bypasses the intricacies of the eigensolution approach. It is demonstrated that the method overcomes the numerical instability even when the thickness tends to infinity or zero. The method is applied easily to calculate the reflection coefficient and shielding effectiveness of multilayered anisotropic materials, which are useful for design of radar absorbers and laminated shields.
