Abstract
In this work stw22 steel sheet was clad with Al1350 at different pre-heat temperatures and thickness reductions. The bond strength was determined by peeling test. The results showed that increasing pre-heat temperature and plastic deformation, bond strength increases. It was also revealed that at any specific temperature, there exists a certain thickness reduction at which the bond strength approaches that of Aluminum. Fracture micrographs showed cracks on the brittle surface of the two materials. These points are extruded areas of virgin substrate which facilitate intimate contact and ultimately bonding between the two metals.
