Abstract
In the present study, the thermal cooling was investigated in ZrO2 insulation coatings on Ag substrate for magnet technologies. A transient thermal analysis was applied by finite element method (FEM) analysis using ANSYS code. The temperature versus the time obtained from FEM solution was checked with the temperature-time diagram measured by a thermocouple. The results found from the numerical calculations were improved by the experimental measurement. In addition, residual stresses were obtained by FEM solutions and they were compared in different points. The compressive and tensile stresses occurred in ZrO2 and Ag, due to the different thermal expansion coefficients in each material, respectively.
