Abstract
Using a pin-on-disk tribometer, the unlubricated tribological properties at different temperatures are investigated for three kinds of silicon carbide ceramics different in SiC particle size. The results show that the ceramic with the matching size of the SiC particles has the lowest friction and wear in the three ceramics at elevated temperatures. The mechanisms of the improvements are discussed in the paper.
