Abstract
⺠Botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT) mechanisms of action are reviewed. ⺠Active form of BoNT mediates a multistep mechanism. ⺠BoNT exerts effects on peripheral synapses, such as the neuromuscular junction. ⺠BoNT also affects neurotransmission at distal central nervous system sites.
