Abstract
⺠We studied functional B. alternatus venom variation at different geographical scales. ⺠We found that pooled venom toxicity is hardly representative of constituents. ⺠The same happens with neutralization by antivenom. ⺠The extent of variation seems to be independent of geographic scale. ⺠There are implications for interpretation of preclinical tests of antivenoms.
