Abstract
Applying methods of ΓΓ-convergence, we introduce and justify a variant of the Kirchhoff theory for pre-strained shells. The effective 2d energy represents bending relative to the desired Riemannian metric. We also develop the analogue of this theory in the presence of the incompressibility constraint with respect to the metric.
