Abstract
Antimicrobial combination therapy which potentiates the activity of antibiotics has been identified to be a novel approach to combat the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens. Although the desired outcome is to broaden the antimicrobial spectrum and to achieve a possible synergistic effect, adverse antagonism may result from incompatible combinations, leading to treatment failure with serious consequences. Therefore, it is imperative to screen the drug candidates for compatibility and possible antagonistic interactions.
