Abstract
⺠Plasma vs. serum and serum collection methods were investigated in biomarker assays. ⺠Autoantibody biomarker assays appear robust to blood type and collection methods. ⺠Inflammation biomarker ELISAs were affected by sample type and handling methods. ⺠Serum samples centrifuged prior to cold-chain shipping were optimal for these assays. ⺠Appropriate sample type and handling methods are important for valid clinical assays.
