Abstract
This paper deals with boundary value problems in a bounded domain for the stationary one-dimensional Kawahara equation. For reasonable boundary conditions we prove existence and uniqueness of a strong solution and its asymptotics when the coefficient of a higher order derivative approaches zero. Formulations of well-posed and ill-posed problems for odd-order equations are discussed.
