Abstract
A novel lead calcium diborate doped with Mn2+ was synthesized by facile combustion method. The phosphor was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) and the photoluminescence emission (PL) and excitation spectra (PLE). XRD patterns reveal that triclinic phase of PbCaB2O5 can be obtained by combustion method at relatively low temperature. The FESEM images show that the prepared phosphor consists of nanoplates with average thickness around 20 nm. Upon 264 nm excitation, the phosphor shows UV emission peaking at 348 nm. Concentration quenching has been observed for Mn2+ concentration greater than 5 mol%.
