This paper that the thermal analysis models of LD side-pumped Nd:YAG rod are established puts forward the temperature field distribution uniformity determination methods. With the ANSYS finite-element method, the temperature distribution in laser work medium is simulated. In the paper, the influences of uniform temperature field distribution are analyzed by the research of Nd:YAG characteristic parameters, cooling conditions and pump beam radius. Moreover, the parameters are optimized in order to obtain the optimistic results which are efficient to decline the temperature gradient in the gain material, and in the improvement of the temperature field distribution uniformity. Accordingly, the adverse influence of heat stress to laser system is dipped. The research results provide theoretical guidance to optimize the design of laser and increase the performance of laser output.
