Abstract
This paper reports that the effect of Co60 gamma-radiation on the attenuation variation of rare earth doped fibers – Er-Al codoped fiber and Yb-Al codoped fiber. These fibers were fabricated using modified chemical vapor deposition method in the ILT lab. The team has found that in contrast with standard single mode fiber, the rare earth fibers have twenties times more ability of anti radiation. And the attenuation increment/decrement rates for radiation/recovery of all kind of fibers is depending on type and operating wavelength band of fiber. The experiment results show that the Al-doped fiber has highest ability of anti radiation and the Er-Al codoped fiber has better recovery ability from radiation.
