Abstract
Based on the amplitude and phase-shift characteristics of microring (MR) resonator, a novel reconfigurable optical pulse shaping approach is proposed. By adjusting the variable attenuators to set the proper relative weights, a transform-limited Gaussian input optical pulse can be shaped into flat-top waveform or triangular waveform flexibly. In contrast to the conventional pulse shaping method, only positive real relative weights are used in the proposed pulse shaper, which not only facilitates the reconfigurable adjustment, but also is robust to the wavelength detuning and temporal duration variations of the input pulse.
