Abstract

Melt quenching method is used to prepare Ge0.15Te0.78Cu0.07, GTC bulk glasses. Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy, EDS is used to investigate the chemical composition of GTC. Calorimetric studies reveal that the glass transition, Tg, is 411 K, other calorimetric constants are also determined and reveal the high thermal stability of GTC bulk glasses. X-ray diffraction confirms the amorphous nature of the prepared alloys. The experimental data of RDF shows that the obtained values of bond lengths are 2.75 and 4.26 A°. 2.75 A° belongs to Ge-Te, Te–Te and 4.26 A° to Cu-Te. Te is a twofold coordination number while Cu is four fold.
